Did You Know? Top Five From the Gravie Account Managers

Courtney is an account manager at Gravie (that’s her on the far right). She has been with the company since it started in November 2013. Prior to working for Gravie, Courtney spent 10 years working for Fairview Health Services. In her free time, Courtney enjoys spending time with her family and friends, getting outdoors, and of course shopping. Fun fact about Courtney, she always has the cutest shoes in the office!

I recently sat down with Courtney to learn more about her role as an account manager and the value she and the other account managers provide our employer customers. Here are the top five value adds:

1. Implementing Gravie + Onboarding Employees

When an employer signs up with Gravie, they are assigned a dedicated account manager who will be their point-of-contact throughout the year. The account manager works with the employer to develop a strategy for rolling out Gravie to their employees, which includes a communication plan, kick-off meeting and enrollment plan. The strategy can be tailored to meet the unique needs of the employer and their employee population. The account manager’s goal is to make sure the transition to Gravie is smooth for both the employer and their employees.

 2. Assist in Setting a Benefits Budget

 Unlike group plans that are often subject to costly rate increases each year, the Gravie model allows employers to control costs and determine what they want to spend. Gravie account managers help employers set a benefits budget and plan for allocating Gravie dollars to their employees. They do this a few different ways. The Dynamic Financial Analysis (DFA) is a tool we have that shows employers what they’re currently spending on their group plan, what employees are currently getting and what they could be getting with Gravie. Account managers also use plan menus when helping employers set their benefits budget. Plan menus show the lowest cost individual plan options available by age-band and metal level, based on your rating area. They also use benchmarking tools that show what other companies in similar industries spend on their employee’s health insurance. This information is important to employers that want to offer competitive benefits.

3. Maximize Employee Enrollment

The Gravie account managers ensure employers and employees are aware of the benefits enrollment process and timeline so there is no lapse in coverage. Employers can be involved in this process as little or as much as they like. The account managers regularly pull enrollment reports and communicate with employees by email, mail, phone, etc. to remind them to shop before the deadline. When employees are ready to shop, they’re never left to fend for themselves. Your employees have access to the Gravie advisors who help them shop for coverage, enroll, and answer any benefits related questions year-round, just like our employer customers have access to their dedicated account manager year-round.  

4. Compliance

At Gravie, we have a team dedicated to staying up-to-date on compliance and changing regulatory requirements. The account managers communicate with employers whenever a change or new law or requirement could affect them. The account managers serve as points of contact for employers whenever they have questions related to compliance, forms they may receive from the state or county, the Affordable Care Act or any other regulatory requirements.

5. New Hires & Terminations

We understand that employee rosters may change often due to new hires and terminations. When there’s a new hire, all employers have to do is notify their Gravie account manager via email or phone, and they’ll get the new hire set-up with employer dollars so they can shop Gravie right away. Your account manager can help you determine an eligibility structure for the employer dollars, provide you with a handbook sample and communication tools you can refer to for your new hires, as well as terminations. When an employee leaves or is terminated, their plan stays active and is portable so they have the option to keep their health insurance coverage and pay for it on their own. They’re not dropped and forced to go to Cobra or another costly alternative. Gravie will remain their agent and advocate.
