About Paul
Paul Sand is the General Counsel, leading Gravie’s legal and compliance work. He brings a variety of experiences with a strong emphasis on practical solutions and business partnership.
Prior to joining Gravie, Paul served as Vice President, Deputy General Counsel at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota where he led legal work related to corporate governance, privacy, corporate compliance, and pharmacy and previously advised on all aspects of fully insured commercial insurance products. Before Blue Cross, Paul was an associate general counsel for privacy at the Minnesota Department of Human Services and a litigation associate at Larson King, LLP. He started his legal career as a judicial law clerk at the Minnesota Court of Appeals.
Paul is a past chair of the health law section of the Minnesota State Bar Association. He has provided pro bono legal services to clients through the Tubman Safety Project and the Advocates for Human Rights.
Paul holds a J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law (now Mitchell Hamline) and a B.A. in journalism from the University of Minnesota. He is a former Policy Fellow at the University’s Humphrey School of Public Affairs.
