Frequently Asked Questions
All group sizes, with or without claims data. Groups that don’t have access to claims (ex: PEO, coming off an ICHRA platform, virgin coverage, in an association or trust plan, etc.)
Gravie needs a member-level census for all enrolled subscribers and their dependents, including name, date of birth, gender, relationship, zip code, medical plan and tier elections. We also need current plan designs and rates, along with the group’s renewal when available. If claims are available, that information is required in order for us to provide a quote.
Census underwriting is based on tools that provide a predictive, forward-looking assessment of a group’s risk, while their claims experience offers historical context. Using both gives Gravie’s the most complete picture of a group’s risk profile.
Gravie has integrated Curv into our underwriting process. Curv is a predictive risk analysis tool designed by Milliman.
Unfortunately, not for a group without any additional claims data. The risk analysis tool is predicated on accurately identifying individual information (medical and pharmacy claims). Without the required census information (name, date of birth, gender, etc.), we won’t have any way to appropriately price the risk.
Six (6) business days
All Gravie proposals include a +/- 10% enrollment change caveat. If a quoted population, by member name, changes by more than 10%, the new census will need to be rerun to determine if the previous rates will hold. Every sold group will have their enrollment file validated against the quoted census to ensure the risk was accurately priced.
Yes, Gravie can quote a virgin group, however, we ask that the group provide an indication of who’s expected to enroll. Because the final enrollment will likely vary from the expected enrollment, a re-rate should be expected after enrollment closes.
For groups with less than 50 enrolled subscribers, three plans can be offered. For groups with 50 or more enrolled subscribers, four plans can be offered.
Gravie has removed the requirement to offer a Comfort plan design.
Gravie will provide a census underwritten quote within six months of the group’s effective date. These quotes will require an updated census file within 90 days of the effective date and will still be subject to the +/-10% participation change contingency.
The further in advance that a proposal is generated, the more likely the group is to break the +/- 10% participation rule or have a material change in risk.
